Learning Objectives: 1. Students will manipulate design elements including line, shape, value, texture, and color. 2. Students will use design principles including unity, variety, balance, rhythm, movement, economy, emphasis and the illusion of depth. 3. Students will demonstrate professional presentation skills, including borders, mounting boards, cover sheets and labels. 4. Students will integrate research and process to manipulate image and content through digital and/or traditional methods. 5. Students will apply critical and creative thinking skills to develop innovative solutions for design problems. 6. Students will research and analyze the work of professionals in a range of art and design fields.
Required Materials: Physical resources: classroom desks Technology resources: digital projector Library resources: Current resources are more than adequate
Technical Requirements: 1. Students will develop an understanding of the elements and principles of design and their application. 2. Students will learn how to use research and generate multiple solutions to define a concept. 3. Students will engage in individual research and idea development to creatively respond to design problems. 4. Students will learn about the impact of presentation and craftsmanship on the design solution. 5. Students will become aware of two-dimensional design as a common language in art and design fields. 6. Students will analyze and critique work on the basis of visual language, design and content.
